National Weather Service: Flash flood watch in effect until 7 p.m. Sunday

Earlier predictions that San Antonio and the Hill Country would see mostly dry weather patterns this weekend were eclipsed by the National Weather Service's issuance of a flash flood watch on Saturday morning. The watch is in effect until Sunday at 7 p.m.

The alert came as search and recovery efforts continued for missing people after severe flooding in Kerr County and downstream.

"Locally heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding across portions of south central Texas," the advisory explained. "Rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches with isolated amounts near 6 inches are possible."

The NWS issued the watch for "Bandera, Bexar, Blanco, Burnet, Comal, Edwards, Gillespie, Hays, Kendall, Kerr, Kinney, Llano, Medina, Real, Travis, Uvalde, Val Verde and Williamson [counties]"

It added: "Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations."
