Minneapolis’ City Council voted 7-6 Wednesday night to cut $7.7 million from its police budget, but will not reduce the size of the police force. The millions saved will be used to fund mental health crisis response teams, and to employ professionals to handle theft and property damage reports previously handled by the police.
