Tropical Storm Nicholas has dumped a foot of rain along the Texas coastal region.

More than 400,000 Harris County homes were without power on Tuesday morning. Galveston received about 14 inches of rain, and Houston saw about 6.5 inches. Wind speeds clocked around 45 to 50 mph in the area.

Tropical Storm Nicholas is now expected to slowly move over southeastern Texas, eventually making its way to Louisiana over the next two days.

Nicholas strengthened into a hurricane before making landfall early Tuesday. The storm will trigger "considerable flash and urban flooding," the National Hurricane Center says.
