Mercury

On board the BepiColombo spacecraft is Strofio, a neutral mass spectrometer specifically designed to sample the sparse exosphere around Mercury. The spacecraft is a joint mission of the European and Japanese space agencies and was launched in 2018.

Messenger was launched from Earth in 2004. After 4,104 orbits of Mercury and billions of miles of space travel, the orbiter ended its mission with a quiet bang Thursday.
