The City of San Antonio is seeking input from residents for the 2020 fiscal year budget. Where and how do you think local resources should be allocated?

The City of San Antonio currently runs on a budget of $2.8 billion under the 2019 fiscal year. The largest operating portion, called the general fund, earmarks $1.26 billion to streets and infrastructure, public safety and other city departments.

The outreach campaign SASpeakUp is the city's newly expanded effort to drive public engagement. The city is starting the process of gathering public input through an online survey and in person events until May 11.

"The budget process is literally a good five or six months in any given year," City Manager Erik Walsh said at a telephone town hall in March. "It's critical because it's our investment plan, it's our spending plan for the next fiscal year and we want to make sure that we're getting the issues, that you, the public and the council decide are priorities."

Findings will be presented to City Council in June and a proposed budget will be shared in early August.

Which issues should the City of San Antonio prioritize and how can citizens help balance the budget?
