Early voting starts Monday in the emergency election for new representation in Texas Senate District 19, covering San Antonio and much of West Texas.
The race is a runoff between Democrat Pete Gallego and Republican Pete Flores, who faced six other challengers for the seat.
Flores, a former contender for District 19 in 2016, won the over 34 percent of the statewide vote. Gallego, a former U.S. congressman who represented Texas' 23rd congressional district, garnered the most votes as a Democrat at 29 percent.
The special election scheduled for Tuesday, September 18, was ordered by Texas Governor Greg Abbott after the resignation of Democratic state Senator Carlos Uresti.
Earlier this year, a federal jury found Uresti guilty on 11 charges including money laundering and counts of fraud. He is sentenced to 12 years in prison plus additional years of supervised release.
Republican candidate Pete Flores declined to participate in this forum on "The Source."
