2018 Elections Forum: Two Candidates Vie For Democratic Primary Nomination In Texas District 116

Courtesy Diana Arévalo (L) and Trey Martinez Fischer (R)

Texas Public Radio's "The Source" is hosting a series of forums with candidates leading up to the 2018 midterm elections. Early voting for the 2018 primary elections starts in two weeks on February 20. Primary Election Day is March 6.

In the San Antonio area, three candidates are campaigning to be the representative for Texas House District 116. The district covers the Northwest area of San Antonio, including the Monticello and Woodlawn Lake neighborhoods, up Bandera Road and I-10 to 1604, covering parts of Balcones Heights and Leon Valley.

Incumbent Diana Arévalo is running for re-election but must first face Trey Martinez Fischer – who held the seat from 2000 to 2017 – in the Democratic primary.

The winner will face Republican Fernando Padron in the November elections.
