District 7 residents voiced frustration at the lack of communication and representation from their city representative. On May 6, they voted for change.
Ana Sandoval won the District 7 City Council seat with almost 51 percent of the vote, beating incumbent Cris Medina by 1,700 votes.
Topics of concern throughout San Antonio's third smallest district include traffic congestion, infrastructure, and government accountability.
While campaigning for office, Sandoval pledged to advocate for safe streets, public safety, responsible city growth, accountability and transparency, and to protect the area's natural resources.
Sandoval joined city council last month. The complete 2017-2019 council will be installed on Wednesday, June 21.
