All eyes are on San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro, President Obama’s pick to be the next secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. San Antonio's Rita Vidaurri Celebrates 90th Birthday

A San Antonio treasure is celebrating a major birthday. Singer Rita Vidaurri will mark her 90th birthday with a performance Friday in San Antonio at the Guadalupe Theater. Rita is a Spanish language musical icon and was a star during Mexico’s golden age of entertainment. But as TPR’s Yvette Benavides tells us in her commentary, Rita’s life story is also a tale of heartache, strength and faith.
