How Are Area Agencies Planning For The Future Of Water In San Antonio?

Steve Johnson CC0: http://bit.ly/2kiFWxf

More hot and dry days, aging infrastructure and population growth are all factors in the state of water in and around San Antonio. How are area water agencies working to ensure sustainable, accessible water resources for the future?

The Edwards Aquifer had a boost of record-breaking rainfall of 16.86 inches earlier in the year, but a July and August have reversed the extra water cushion. Less than half an inch of rain has fallen in San Antonio since the end of June.

Are water restrictions being considered? How would SAWS customers be affected?

How could the ongoing climate crisis impact water resources? Does human behavior need to change to mitigate these issues? What are the benefits of "water-smart living"?

How is San Antonio's booming population affecting water resources and what's being done to plan for even more growth? What infrastructure improvements are needed? What projects are in the works?

What other water-related challenges and opportunities does San Antonio face? How can we encourage residents to be more water-literate moving forward?
