Here's what we know...
9 p.m. – Hidalgo County confirms 21 additional cases
There are now 215 active cases of COVID-19 in Hidalgo County after a 21 new cases were reported on Wednesday.
Hidalgo County has now administered over 12,000 COVID-19 tests, which have resulted in 537 positive cases of the virus. About 3,000 cases remain pending.
There are currently 16 people who are receiving treatment for COVID-19 in Hidalgo County hospitals, including three in intensive care.
No cases were cleared from isolation on Wednesday. About 60 percent, or 312 people, who tested positive have since recovered from the disease, according to county data.
8:15 p.m. – Twenty new cases reported in Cameron County
Cameron County Public Health confirmed 20 additional cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, taking the total number of reported cases up to 731.
Sixteen of the new cases are from Brownsville, ranging between the ages of 23 and 71. Also reported: a 20-year-old female from Los Fresnos linked to previous case, a 30 year-old male from Rio Hondo linked to a previous case, and a case of travel transmission in a 43-year-old female from San Benito.
On Wednesday, 24 individuals who previously tested positive were also reported to have recovered. 522 people who tested positive previously have now recuperated, according to county data.
8 p.m. – Three new cases in Starr County
Judge Eloy Vera confirmed that there are now 27 cases of COVID-19 in Starr County residents after three new cases were announced on Wednesday.
Wednesday's group includes a woman in her 20s who tested positive in Bexar County and a man in his 50s who remains hospitalized in Hidalgo County.
2 p.m. – Over 1,200 confirmed cases, 44 deaths connected to COVID-19 in the Valley
As of Wednesday morning, the four Valley-area counties have reported the following counts:
- 516 cases, 10 deaths in Hidalgo County
- 711 cases, 33 deaths in Cameron County
- 15 cases, 1 death in Willacy County
- 24 cases in Starr County
