Abbott is in Washington this week to lobby Congress for $11 billion to compensate Texas for money spent on his Operation Lone Star, to secure the border during the Biden Administration.

Texas has already militarized the border under Gov. Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star.

The congressman said he joined other Democrats in opposition to the use of the floating barriers and razor wire at Texas’ border because of the lack of permits.

Tuesday was another electoral blowout in which Democrats underperformed expectations, weakening their case that Texas is a battleground state worthy of investment and attention from the national party.

U.S. Rep. Colin Allred, a former NFL linebacker and civil rights lawyer from Dallas, repeatedly broke fundraising records in his campaign, raising more than $80 million by mid-October.

The second gentleman’s visit will focus on voting rights.

The vice presidential candidate was briefly in Dallas for a fundraiser on behalf of Kamala Harris’ campaign.

U.S. Reps. Jasmine Crockett and Veronica Escobar are expected to speak on the mainstage in Chicago.
