Texas Public Radio, in partnership with the
City of San Antonio,
Project for Public Spaces,
AIA of San Antonio and the
San Antonio Public Library, invite you to re-imagine a public space around the city or in your neighborhood.
AIA San Antonio, a chapter of The American Institute of Architects, is partnering with Texas Public Radio to visualize each of the five selected projects. Teams architects, emerging professionals and local architecture students will meet the challenge to make the ideas come to life with material and form. Discussion and dialogue about each idea will be expressed in 3-D graphic renderings that clearly illustrates how the Lighter, Quicker Cheaper initiatives can become instant community amenities!
Visit the
Project for Public Spaces homepage to get more information and see some of the projects that they have already completed. PPS has been working to helping people create and sustain public spaces that build stronger communities since 1975, and have completed projects in over 2,500 communities in 40 countries and all 50 US states.
LQC is a do-it-yourself approach based on taking incremental steps, trying low-cost experiments, and tapping into local talents (e.g. citizens, entrepreneurs, developers, and city staff) to quickly translate a community's vision into reality and build momentum for further improvements.
