Mayor Castro's Chief Of Staff Recommended To Fill City Attorney Post

City of San Antonio

This week, the San Antonio City Council is set to select its new city attorney. According to the city, 43 applicants submitted their resumes for post, a position which is being vacated by Michael Bernard.

The city narrowed the list down to five potential candidates for the position, with interviews conducted in mid-November.

Out of the list, Mayor Julián Castro's Chief of Staff Robbie Greenblum was the recommended choice for the job. He is a graduate of the University of Texas who has more than 20 years of experience as an attorney and has worked on matters like immigration and international law, nonprofit, and property tax issues, according to the city.

Under the staff's recommendation, Greenblum will be considered at Thursday's city council meeting.

Bernard has been city attorney since 2005 and is leaving to become a partner at Bracewell & Giuliani, a private international firm that has a San Antonio office.

The city attorney is the chief legal advisor to the city council, city manager and city all departments.
