Trokas Duras: Film Screening and Plática

Trokas Duras: Film Screening and Plática
Join us for a free film screening of "Trokas Duras", followed by a plática with Filmmaker Jazmin Garcia, Monica Sosa of Entre Films and members of Esperanza and Domesticas Unidas.
Filmmaker Jazmin Garcia (Los Angeles, CDMX) is touring the Texas/Mexico borderlands with her latest film, "Trokas Duras". This film is about experiencing the City of Los Angeles through the perspective of a specific type of worker in LA so common, yet often overlooked as an integral part of the city and expansive county.
Trokas Duras is an homage, funded and supported by the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON), uplifting the unique, idiosyncratic, and customized old pick-up trucks driven by Latino day laborers and the intimacy that is cultivated in and around them. Jazmin has been screening the film at various festivals, universities, and micro-cinemas, and was the winner of the Short Film Jury Award for Best US Fiction at the Sundance Film Festival 2025.
For the San Antonio stop of this film tour, Jazmin has partnered with the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center to bring "Trokas Duras" to the San Antonio community. Following the screening, Jazmin will be joined by members of the community for a plática about the film and the work being done on the ground that challenges the status quo, while creating intersections of beauty and justice.
The event is free, for all ages, and bilingual!
