The Trailblazing Legacy of Raoul A. Cortez, Emilio Nicolas Sr., & Martha Tijerina in Spanish-language Media

The Bexar Heritage Center presents
From Bexar County to the Nation: The Trailblazing Legacy of Raoul A. Cortez, Emilio Nicolas Sr., and Martha Tijerina in Spanish-language Media

Join us at the historic Bexar County Courthouse for an engaging conversation with Martha Tijerina, Guillermo Nicolas, and Dr. Maggie Rivas-Rodriguez as they explore the groundbreaking contributions of Spanish-language media trailblazers whose journeys began right here in Bexar County - from the pioneering days of KCOR-AM, KCOR-TV, and KWEX-TV to the rise of Univision.

Panelists include:
MARTHA TIJERINA – Former host of “En San Antonio” on KWEX-TV and one of the first women in Spanish-language television in the U.S.

GUILLERMO NICOLAS – Philanthropist, businessman, and descendant of Spanish-language media trailblazers

DR. MAGGIE RIVAS-RODRIGUEZ – Professor at UT Austin's School of Journalism and Media, affiliated with the Center for Mexican American Studies and Director of the Voces Oral History Center
