The Scobee Education Center & Planetarium Summer 2023 Friday Night Public Show Schedule - JUNE
Public shows at the Scobee Planetarium are presented only on Friday evenings.
NOTE: Although, San Antonio College’s address is listed as 1819 N. Main Ave, our building is located toward the center of campus across from the Candler Gym complex. The phone number is 210-486-0100. Parking is free in unreserved spaces in the new parking garage #3 located at the new traffic light on W. Myrtle St and San Pedro Ave.

Ticket sales begin 30 minutes prior to show time at the Ticket Office. Capacity is exactly 101 seats. Come early. Shows start promptly and late admission is not permitted. Starting in June, we are transferring to a new ticketing system that will allow us to sell tickets in advance and reserve seating.
Parents, please do not ask us to waive the age restrictions for the 8:00pm and 9:30pm shows.
Ticket Prices
Children under 17 - $5.00 per show Adults ages 18 and above - $6.00 per show
Seniors 65 and above - $5.00 per show Military and Educators with ID - $5.00 per show
Students, faculty, & staff of Alamo Colleges $3.00 per show with current ID.
Observatory Star Party $3.00 per person

JUNE 2nd
6:30 p.m. – “ONE WORLD, ONE SKY – BIG BIRD’S ADVENTURE” – This is our family show. All ages may attend. The show follows Sesame Street’s Big Bird and Elmo as they explore the night sky with Hu Hu Zhu, a Muppet from Zhima Jie, the Chinese co-production of Sesame Street. Together, they take an imaginary trip from Sesame Street to the Moon, where they discover how different it is from Earth. Show duration: 32 minutes. Tickets go on sale at 6:00 p.m.
8:00 p.m. – PLANETARIUM GUEST SPEAKER - Science Series
Join us June 2nd, during our 8:00pm show to listen to Dr. Stephanie Jarmak discuss "The search for water on the largest metallic asteriod: JWST observations of the asteriod Psyche".
9:30 p.m. – DOUBLE FEATURE, “SEVEN WONDERS AND “TALES OF THE MAYA SKIES”
“SEVEN WONDERS – Children must be 6 and above to attend. Turn back the pages of time and witness the ancient wonders of the world as they appeared thousands of years ago. Explore the great pyramids, stand in the shadow of the towering Colossus, and experience the rest of the wonders that shaped our history. From there, we will get of glimpse of some of the universe’s greatest wonders.
"TALES OF THE MAYA SKIES" – Children must be 6 and above to attend. Come experience a digital full-dome production that immerses the audience into the Maya astronomy, art and culture through a custom music score and computer visuals. Come explore the beauty of Chichén Itzá, Mexico, the “seventh wonder of the modern world.” Show duration for double feature: 1 hour. Tickets go on sale at 9:00 p.m.
JUNE

8:00 p.m. – “THE SKY TONIGHT” – Children must be 6 and above to attend. This program takes the audience on a “live” tour of the wonders of the San Antonio sky. The show highlights the Moon, the evening and morning planets, plus we’ll identify several of the brightest stars and constellations visible in the current sky. The Sky Tonight is a "live" lecture. Show duration: 45-50 minutes. Tickets go on sale at 7:30 p.m.
