The Chicano Movement: 50 Years of Resistance and Progress with Dr. David Montejano Prof. Emeritis UC Berkeley
Sociologist and historian Dr. David Montejano will explore the fifty years since the rise of the Chicano Movement, which remains a pivotal chapter in the ongoing narrative of civil rights and social justice in the United States. Emerging during the 1960s as part of a broader wave of activism, the movement sought to address the systemic inequalities faced by Mexican Americans and other Latinos. Reflecting on this period today provides an opportunity to assess both the legacy of its achievements and the unfinished business that continues to challenge marginalized communities. This event is free and open to the public.
