San Antonio Mastersingers’ 81st Season to Feature Choral Masterworks, Light Classics, and Musical Theatre Favorites
The Mastersingers Announce Audition Dates for 2025-26 Season

WHAT: The San Antonio Mastersingers, under the baton of music director Dr. Yoojin Muhn, will hold auditions by appointment only on Saturday, August 16 and Saturday, August 23. Openings are available in all voice parts. Auditions consist of vocalizations, repeating short melodic sequences (ear testing), sight-reading, and a prepared solo (if the singer has one). Successful auditioners will perform with the San Antonio Mastersingers as they present their 81st season of choral excellence under the baton of Dr. Yoojin Muhn. This year’s season includes Orff’s Carmina Burana and Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms with the San Antonio Philharmonic; All Things New (featuring the Poulenc Gloria) at the beautiful Chapel of the University of the Incarnate Word; the Mastersingers’ annual presentation of Handel’s Messiah at University Methodist Church; and Theatrical Serenade II (featuring musical theatre and light opera favorites) at Palo Alto College.

In addition, as part of the Manhattan Concert Productions Masterworks Series, Mastersingers music director Dr. Yoojin Muhn has been invited to conduct the Faure’ Requiem at New York City’s Carnegie Hall in the summer of 2026. Mastersingers members are invited to participate in this optional performance at their own expense.

ALSO: The Mastersingers is an all-volunteer chorus numbering approximately 125 singers whose mission is to provide our community with life-enriching experiences through the performance of choral repertoire that engages the audience, challenges the singers, and supports the development of inspirational and educational opportunities through outstanding musical performances. The chorus has performed in such locations as New York City’s Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, London’s Royal Festival Hall, and major venues in Italy, Portugal, Spain, and France. In June 2022 the Mastersingers embarked on a concert tour to the United Kingdom, culminating with a choral evensong at the venerable St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. The Mastersingers returned to New York’s Carnegie Hall in June 2023 where they performed Mozart’s Requiem under the baton of Dr. Yoojin Muhn, and in 2024, the chorus performed in historic venues throughout Austria and the Czech Republic. In 2026, Dr. Muhn will again return to Carnegie Hall as the conductor of the Faure’ Requiem as part of Manhattan Concert Productions’ Masterwork Series.
