Join us for Cinema Under the Stars!

Raza Cósmica: A constellation of Latinx sci-fi cinema returns to Cassiano Park with a free community screening of Blue Beetle, the first live-action superhero movie directed by, written by, and starring Latinos!

Enjoy free paletas provided by Mexican American Civil Rights Institute (MACRI) while supplies last and fresh popcorn and face-painting courtesy of Countdown City Geeks.

Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Superhero Blue Beetle. Preceded by Lupe Q and the Galactic Corn Cake by Javier Badillo.

Blue Beetle is presented by MonteVideo, City of San Antonio Public Library, City of San Antonio Parks & Recreation Department, and Mexican American Civil Rights Institute as part of Raza Cósmica. Raza Cósmica is an annual film festival produced by MonteVideo to showcase sci-fi and speculative films by Latinx and BIPOC filmmakers.
