Healthy Texan Week

Healthy Texan Week

Texans of all ages are invited to celebrate healthy habits and vibrant living during a fun-filled, family-friendly event as part of Healthy Texan Week. On May 10 at the Mammen Family Public Library, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will offer creative ways for families to learn about the benefits of fruits, vegetables, and physical activity through interactive experiences, games, and hands-on learning stations.

Children can explore the importance of nutritious foods through arts and crafts, a garden relay race, fruit and veggie rock painting, and classic games like cornhole. Families will enjoy healthy snacks, flavored water samples, and a smoothie demonstration using a blender bike, while discovering new ways to incorporate fresh produce into everyday meals. A variety of educational resources and community information will be available, helping families make informed choices about nutrition and wellness.

Partners for this event include Mammen Family Public Library, Methodist Healthcare Ministries Wesley Nurse, and representatives from Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, including the Agriculture and Natural Resource Agent, 4-H Agent and Program Assistant, and Horticulture Agent, with more community organizations to be confirmed. All activities are free and open to the public.
