Gun Safety and Suicide Prevention
Gun Safety and Suicide Prevention
Firearm injuries and suicide continue to take a devastating toll on our communities—particularly among young people and veterans. These tragedies are often preventable, and prevention begins with awareness, education, and community engagement.
On Saturday, March 21, Texas Doctors for Social Responsibility will host a Gun Safety & Suicide Prevention Forum in San Antonio, bringing together physicians, mental health experts, veterans’ advocates, and community leaders to discuss practical, evidence-based approaches to prevention.
The forum will focus on:
• Safe firearm storage and injury prevention
• Suicide prevention strategies for youth and veterans
• The role of physicians and communities in reducing preventable deaths, and
• Public health solutions that protect families while respecting responsible ownership.
