Lead by Dr. André W. Droxler, Rice University Professor Emeritus, Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences Department, this exclusive day trip includes visits to three separate Mason County outcrop areas that expose basement bedrock and two of the Cambrian formations that accumulated in this part of Texas.
Tour group participants will explore:

• The billion-year-old granites of “Tom’s Rock”, a mini Enchanted Rock on a private ranch
• An outcrop of the ~500 million-year-old Hickory Sandstone (earliest fossil-bearing rock in the area)
• A Late Cambrian microbial reef complex (also ~500 million-year-old) on the banks of the San Saba River
