Goddard Day
Goddard Day
Join St. Mary’s University as we prepare to celebrate Goddard Day, an event honoring Dr. Robert H. Goddard, widely regarded as the father of modern rocketry.
What Is Goddard Day?
Goddard Day is observed each year on March 16 to commemorate Dr. Goddard’s successful launch of the world’s first liquid-fueled rocket in 1926. This historic achievement laid the groundwork for modern space exploration, satellites, and aerospace innovation. Today, Goddard Day is recognized by STEM institutions, educators, and organizations as a time to celebrate scientific curiosity, experimentation, and the power of bold ideas.
