San Antonio, TX – Jump-Start Performance Co. announces its upcoming production, FRONTERA SPOOKYS, featuring a double bill of borderland legends and lore in the form of LECHUZA GRITOS by Marisela Barrera and HAUNTED HEART by Frederick Himes, with live music by odie. and Joe Reyes weaving through the evening.

Haunted Heart transports the audience to Agua Fria in the Northern Mexican desert. There, under cover of night, a family mausoleum is disturbed. The malefactor removes the head of a corpse and hangs it around his neck before vanishing into the desert darkness. Himes supports his cunning tale with unique visual and sound elements.

Lechuza Gritos beckons the legendary owl-woman to swoop down screeching into the current political chaos, mocking and critiquing gender stereotyping, othering, spinsterhood and single parenting. Barrera regales her audience through the lens of a politically infused Chicana with wise owl eyes…and wit.
