Community Gathers for Blessing and Unveiling of Flor y Canto Mural on San Antonio’s West Side
Community members, artists, youth leaders, and partners will come together on Friday, February 27, 2026, for the Blessing and Unveiling of Flor y Canto, a new public mural celebrating culture, creativity, and community voice on San Antonio’s West Side.
The event will take place from 12:00–2:00 PM at 1215 W. Poplar, San Antonio, TX 78207, and is free and open to the public.
Flor y Canto—meaning “Flower and Song”—is a collaborative mural project led by San Anto Cultural Arts (SACA) and SA Youth, reflecting the lived experiences, resilience, and artistic traditions of the surrounding neighborhood. The mural was coordinated by Marco Vargas, Mural Coordinator for SACA, and Jeremy Manginell, SOAR Program Director for SA Youth.
The mural was created by artists Mauro Murillo, Amber Bushnell, and Mauro De La Tierra, whose work centers identity, place, and community storytelling.
The unveiling will include live music beginning at 1:00 PM, featuring DJ WTH!? and a performance by Mariachi Trio Ardiente, creating a celebratory atmosphere that honors both the art and the community it represents.
This event is a testament to the power of partnership, youth engagement, and public art as tools for connection, expression, and neighborhood pride.
