City of San Antonio Presents 11th Annual Viva Poesía: Palabras, Música, y Cultura

The City of San Antonio World Heritage Office and Department of Arts & Culture proudly present the 11th Annual Viva Poesía: Palabras, Música, y Cultura at Mission Marquee Plaza on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 6–10 p.m.

This year’s theme, “Ónce Pon a Time at the Mission Marquee Plaza,” celebrates 11 years of storytelling with highlights from past performances. As San Antonio’s official kickoff to National Poetry Month, the event will feature past Poets Laureate Carmen Tafolla, Laurie Ann Guerrero, Octavio Quintanilla, and Andrea “Vocab” Sanderson, along with a stellar lineup of literary and musical artists.

The evening will include performances by the new BX3 San Antonio Poetry Slam Team, Amalia Ortiz, Tomas Castillo-Roque, Natalia Treviño, Jessica Tilton Zertuche, and San Antonio Poet Laureate Eddie Vega, with Anthony The Poet as emcee. Live music will be provided by Los De Esta Noche, Juan & Armando Tejeda, violinist Lauren Logan, cellist Luke William Bonecutter, and DJ Caliente. Joyous Windrider and Nate Zen will lead community writing workshops, while local artists host interactive activities for all ages.

Additional highlights include a FREE Tree adoption of 500 shade, ornamental, and fruit trees courtesy of San Antonio Parks and Recreation, plus local vendors, food, and drinks available for purchase.

This free, family-friendly event is open to all.
