Let’s Celebrate the Suffragists in February!
Mark Saturday, February 22nd on your calendar because the League of Women Voters will be celebrating the women that courageously fought for the 19th Amendment, which enabled some, but not all, women to vote. The program that describes over 100 years of American history, focusing on the Suffragists that devoted their lives to a cause, votes for women.
It is particularly fitting that we focus on the Suffragists in February because Susan B. Anthony was born on February 15, 1820. Also, the League of Women Voters, formed prior to the passage of the 19th Amendment by one of the Suffragists leaders, Carrie Chatman Catt, celebrates its formation in February.
