In a time of rapid disenfranchisement of both art and the human spirit, artist and educator Polly Guo talks about the power of comics and narrative as an accessible way to increase self-identity, to express one’s self authentically, and connect with community. Polly Guo is an L.A. artist and educator. Guo has worked on animated shows Adventure Time, She-Ra, and others. Her critically acclaimed comic ‘Gawain’s Girlfriend and the Green Knight’ appears on The Beat’s ‘Top 100 Comics of the Decade.’ She is trained in developing Social Emotional Arts (SEA) curricula by the UCLA Arts and Healing Initiative and is currently a professor at Calstate Fullerton (CSUF).
