2nd Annual Let Cuba Live Film Festival

2nd Annual Let Cuba Live Film Festival

“When we men [people] carry the same ideals in their hearts, nothing can keep us isolated; neither walls of prison nor the sod of cemetaries. For a single memory, a single spirit, a single idea, single conscience, a single dignity will sustain them all”- Fidel Castro from History will Absolve me his defense speech from the attacks on Moncada and Cespedes Barracks on July 26 1953 which launched the revolutionary movement 26 de Julio in which won Cuba’s liberation in 1959 and continues till today.

Join us in our 2nd Annual Film Festival Celebrating Cuba’s revolutionary movement and building solidarity with the island who since its liberation has been attacked by the United States through a genocidal economic blockade, continued sanctions and being put on a bogus list of state sponsoring terrorism.

This year’s film festival we will screen a La Ultima Cena directed by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea, produced by the Instituto Cubano del Arte y la Industria Cinematográficos (ICAIC).. We will also screen some shorts and will headline with Cuba in Africa directed by Negash Abdurahman, a documentary depicting Cuba’s sacrifice in ending colonial rule and apartheid in South Africa. We’ll sell Cuban food and end with a small social with music, drink and dance.

We ask for donations for Galeria EVA, our gracious host and we will also have raffles of Cuban items and launch of a solidarity campaign for Cuba. We hope you can join us Saturday July 26 from 12-5pm.
