18th annual On & Off Fredericksburg Road Studio Tour
Over 80 participating artists will open their studios or exhibit in businesses and galleries in and around the historic Deco District for the 18th annual On and Off Fredericksburg Road Studio Tour presented by Bihl Haus Arts from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 21 and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 22.
“On & Off Fred” is a self-guided tour of private homes, art studios, businesses and galleries of participating artists of all kinds – painters, sculptors, and photographers. The studio tour kicks off with the On & Off Fred Autograph Party and Opening Reception from 6-9 p.m. Friday, March 20 at Bihl Haus Arts, 2803 Fredericksburg Road on the grounds of the Sorento Apartments. Parking is free inside the Sorento Apartments. Food and refreshments will be provided, as well as musical entertainment by Andrew Flores and the Western Mulberries. For more information, visit Bihlhausarts.org or www.OnandOffFredTour.org.
“We invite the community to come enjoy a weekend of art and opportunities to meet the talented artists and purchase artworks directly from them,” said Nicholas Gonzales, Bihl Haus Arts Executive Director. “We want to highlight the quality and variety of outstanding professional artists who live and/or work in the Deco District, and we hope you will come support them.”
Artists featured in “On & Off Fred” live and/or work in surrounding Fredericksburg Road communities, including Alta Vista, Beacon Hill, Los Angeles Heights, Jefferson, Keystone, Monticello Park, and Woodlawn Lake.
To take the tour of 38 locations, attendees can get a free fold-up tour map identifying the artists and their tour locations. Maps will be available at the Bihl Haus Gallery, at tour locations, and from tour artists. New this year is a Limited-Edition Catalog featuring tour artists and their artwork displayed in the group exhibit at Bihl Haus Gallery. Catalogs are available at Bihl Haus Gallery for $20.
“The Studio Tour is a great way to buy directly with local artists,” Sarah Shore, On and Off Fred Committee Chair, said. “We are proud of the fact we have added more galleries and businesses to the tour.”
