The Guadalupe Dance Company is starting up a series of recurring dance events and it starts with a phrase in Spanish: PisandoFuerte.
"Pisando Fuerte means stomping hard, which of course, is Flamenco dance."
The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center's Jeanette Chavez. And she's talking about something they're calling Flamenco Fridays, which happen the next two Fridays, June 3rd and June 10th.
"We'll have a guitarist. We'll also have a percussionist. They play an instrument that's called a Cajon. And of course our cantaora. She'll sing. She's been trained by some wonderful Spanish artists. And it'll be just like you were in Spain."
Those performing have a long record of accomplishment.
"Chayita Champion if from San Antonio but she is invited all over the country because of her amazing ability. She's a wonderful singer. Talented guitarist Luisma Ramos as well, so we're really excited about all the talent we're bringing together for Friday."
This Friday there is a special guest dancer who will be dancing with the Guadalupe Dance Company.
"Illeana Gomez. She's a dancer and a choreographer. And we'll get to see her onstage that Friday on June 3rd."
It's happening at the Guadalupe Theater, where the seating's been broken up to two levels. The first level is at tables right in front of the stage.
"They'll also receive tapas and sangria for that real Flamenco experience."
