‘Lights, Camera, Action!’ 19th Annual San Antonio Film Festival Begins Wednesday

San Antonio Film Festival

The Alamo City is rolling out the red carpet for independent film makers this week during the annual San Antonio Film Festival. For nearly 20 years, fans of indie films have attended the San Antonio Film Festival for both short- and feature-length movies.

"It’s films that you’ll never see -- for the most part -- on Netflix or the movie theater," said Executive Director Adam Rocha.

In its humble beginnings, the festival was only a single day and had 13 films, but this year the event will roll over the next seven days, where 175 movies from around the country will be screened at local theaters like the Palladium and Embassy.

Seth Green, of Robot Chicken fame, will show his film "Story of Luke" on Wednesday night, and the nightmarishly iconic Freddy Kruger will make a reprise in a filmed called "Sanitarium."

"His real name is Robert Englund," Rocha said. "He’s in a film by three local San Antonio film makers and that’s a very proud moment for us."

The first showing is tonight at HemisFair park beginning at 7  p.m. and a full list of films being showcased is at SAfilm.com.
