Lang Lang Returns to San Antonio

Coming up next week, a solo piano recital by Lang Lang, Tuesday, October 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Majestic Theatre. As he did in his last appearance in San Antonio, the image of his hands will be projected over the piano during the concert, so you’ll see his technique from every seat in the historic Majestic.

Heralded as the “hottest artist on the classical music planet” by The New York Times, Lang Lang has played sold-out recitals and concerts in every major city in the world and is the first Chinese pianist to be engaged by the Vienna Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic and all the top American orchestras. Lang Lang will perform works by Mozart and Chopin.

KPAC’s Ron Moore spoke to Lang Lang about playing two composers on a program, how he likes the Majestic (spoiler alert: he LOVES the ceiling!), and what he likes to do in his spare time.

The program:

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Sonata No. 5 in G Major, K. 283

Sonata No. 4 in E-Flat Major, K. 282

Sonata No. 8 in A Minor, K. 310

–Intermission—

Frédéric Chopin: Ballade No. 1 in G Minor, Op., 23

Ballade No. 2 in F Major, Op., 38

Ballade No. 3 in A-flat Major, Op., 47

Ballade No. 4 in F Minor, Op., 52

Tickets are at Ticketmaster, or call the Symphony Box Office at (210) 554-1010.
