Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales announced that James Brennand, the former SAPD officer who shot 17-year-old Erik Cantu Jr., has been indicted on one count of attempted murder and two counts of first-degree aggravated assault.

Signed by 'Erik’s family,' the GoFundMe Post said Cantu will still need rehabilitation.

They said their son was still fighting for his life in the hospital, and they called for justice for their son.

Now-fired San Antonio Police Department officer James Brennand has been arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault for shooting 17-year-old Erik Cantu while on duty on October 2. The charges and arrest came within hours of a protest held in front of SAPD headquarters demanding Brennand’s arrest.
