PERKINS is the pioneer of a style of music called Rockabilly, which is described as "a country man's song with a black man's rythm." PERKINS, born in Tennessee, learned to play guitar from his uncle and formed a band with his two brothers before touring the South with Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. It was Cash who gave Perkins the idea for the song, "Blue Suede Shoes." PERKINS has just written a new book, entitled "Go, Cat, Go!"(Hyperion) in which he talks about his career. (He also has a new CD of the same title on Dinosaur Entertainment.
