San Antonio Demonstrators Use Car Caravan To Join Nationwide Demand For Police Reforms

Hundreds of people gathered under a brilliant blue sky on Saturday to join in nationwide Black Lives Matter demonstrations. Participants expressed themselves with a caravan of decorated cars and trucks. Other organizers also offered a food drive for the needy.

The San Antonio Coalition for Police Accountability and Reform (SACPAR) sponsored the late morning/early afternoon event.

The caravan began at the AT&T Center. The route the caravan planned to take was not immediately clear nor was its end point.

Participants either arrived with their cars decorated or used free art supplies at the staging area to deck out their automobiles, or they attached pre-made signs.

Anyone who left their vehicles was required to wear a mask.

Organizers also asked participants to bring "non-perishable goods, pet food, or even diapers and wipes" to contribute to the San Antonio Food Bank.

This was not the only notable demonstration in San Antonio on Saturday. Demonstrators also gathered to honor slain Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen.
