Major traffic delays are anticipated this weekend as a portion of I-35 will be closed.
TxDOT crews will close all the main lanes between Rittiman Road and George Beach in both directions from 9p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.
“We’re going to close all lanes, both directions," says TxDOT spokesman Josh Donat. "Traffic will be routed onto the frontage roads for that little spurt. And as any major closure would, especially when it’s a weekend long closure, but particularly on a stretch like I-35 right here, we’re expecting some major delays throughout the weekend.”

Donat says work crews will take what’s being call a “Spurs Break.”
“Of course this is San Antonio, and we’re going to keep things puro, and we’re going to take a Spurs break Saturday from 6 o’clock ‘til about 11 o’clock and make sure that folks can get to-and-from the AT&T Center to make sure that they can cheer-on our black and silver as they play the LA Clippers.”
While the main lanes are close, traffic will be routed to the access road.
