Gervin-Hawkins Wins District 120 Runoff Race

Democrats Mario Salas and Barbara Gervin-Hawkins are competing to represent Texas House District 120

Bexar County Democrats, closely watching the results of today's runoff race, saw Barbara Gervin-Hawkins hang on to her early lead and win the race to become the Democratic candidate for the Texas House District 120 seat.  

Gervin-Hawkins is the likely successor to Rep. Ruth Jones McClendon who represented the East Side of San Antonio for more than two decades and retired earlier this year after serious health problems.  There is no Republican running for the seat.

Democrats also chose Javier Salazar to face Republican Sheriff Susan Pamerleau in November. 

In Texas House District 73, which includes portions of Kendall and Comal counties,  incumbent Republican Doug Miller of New Braunfels lost his seat to challenger Kyle Biederman.

Here's a look at the voting results for key races reported shortly before 10 p.m. with all precincts reporting:

DEMOCRATS: BEXAR COUNTY
