AUSTIN — An Austin Independent School District bus driver has been fired as he faces allegations of sexual assault of a 6-year-old girl aboard the vehicle.

Williamson County jail records show 61-year-old Leon Ralph Young of Pflugerville was being held Friday on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Online records do not list an attorney to speak on behalf of Young, whose bond was set at $500,000 follow his arrest Thursday.

Investigators say the student allegedly was touched in an inappropriate manner several times since last August. The incidents, including some apparently witnessed by other children, were reported to police April 17.

Young was fired April 27. He’d worked for the district since 2012. School officials say counseling will be available on campus for students, families and staff.
