Cooler temperatures and a greater risk of wildfires both return soon to San Antonio

A cold front is expected to push into the Hill County and San Antonio area next week to finally bring more fall-like temperatures. But it also threatens to increase the risk for wildfires.

By Tuesday, daytime highs should drop into the 80s. Some long-range forecasts show daytime highs in the 80s may stick around until at least the end of October. Unfortunately, the cold front will not trigger any rain.

Early morning lows in the city will be in the 60s, and at times in the upper 50s, in the weeks ahead.

Lower humidities and dry conditions have increased the wildfire risk in outlying areas around the city.
