COPPERAS COVE, Texas — Teachers at one Central Texas elementary school have rewarded their students for finishing their end-of-year tests by performing a series of escalating dares — including eating live worms.
The Killeen Daily Herald reports that students at Clements/Parsons Elementary School in Copperas Cove exceeded their school goals on their statewide STAAR tests. So they got to challenge their teachers to perform stunts for a live audience.
One teacher had to kiss a guinea pig, and another ate frog legs. But reading and language arts teacher Michele Cox had to eat live earthworms.
Cox joked that she chased the worms with chocolate.
The teachers won strong reviews from their students. One 10-year-old, Emma Wasiak, says she was disgusted, but impressed that “they really did what they said they would do.”
