Alamo Colleges Prepping High School Students For College Success

San Antonio Colleges

High school students are invited to San Antonio College this weekend for a sneak peek into the young leadership program and to get some valuable college prep.

As an extra incentive, the Alamo Colleges are offering a chance to earn one of ten $1,000 scholarships for students planning to attend an Alamo Colleges campus.

The occasion is the 2014 Young Leaders Conference, a free one-day event for high school juniors, seniors and their parents to get a head start on transitioning to college. Student Leadership Institute Coordinator Rodell Asher said students will be asked to start the visioning process for their college careers.

“We encourage them to begin with their end goal," Asher said. "What are they interested in doing and becoming, and what do you do when you are actually here in college. So, it’s ownership, accountability and leadership that we impart with our students."

The Saturday event is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at McAllister Auditorium and is open to any high school students in the area.
