Revelations of Community Heat Mitigation

Revelations of Community Heat Mitigation

Friends of Mission Branch Library and Gardening Volunteers of South Texas are co-sponsoring a panel discussion of local efforts to mitigate extreme heat at the residential level with water and land conservation and urban trees. Learn about local efforts from local community leaders Kamala Platt and Peter Onofre; and the leaders of Bexar Branches Alliance and Fuerza Unida.

Discussion will be led by Adriana Rocha Garcia, PhD; president and chief executive officer of Center for Health Empowerment in South Texas; and current San Antonio Water System trustee representing its Southwest Quadrant.

Beginning at 5 p.m., Gardening Volunteers of South Texas will have information available on water-wise gardening and water conservation; along with the current San Antonio Water System programs and rebates for residential customers.

Friends of Mission Branch Library will host a post-discussion reception.

Event ends at 8:00 p.m.
