A Holiday Tradition Closing In Grand, Final Performance

A classic vocal ensemble in San Antonio is calling it a day.

“This is the farewell performance for Voci Di Sorrelle, and it’s the twelfth Christmas Concert that we’ve given.”

Ruth Moreland created Voci 11 years ago, but several members’ lives have changed substantially in that time.

“It was just time to say farewell,” she explains.

And they’re saying goodbye in the form of a holiday concert, at the Chapel of the Incarnate Word at the University.

“So it’s a feast for the senses, and then the acoustics in the chapel are absolutely perfect for a cappella music. I always think about that chapel as being part of the ensemble. For many, many people we hear, year after year, that this concert signals the beginning of the true Christmas holiday for them.”

It all happens at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec 14.

“They come, and they’re just immersed in this hour of peace and tranquility, and just the joy of Christmas. And when they leave, they’re just brought to this place of peace.”
