Kerrville City Council approved this week a 7.89% property tax rate hike—this just less than 3 months after July floods.
A disaster tax rate of .57 cents per 100-dollar valuation of all property will go into effect for the Fiscal Year 2026 budget.
Some Kerrville residents spoke out against the tax hike.
Property owners will have until October 20 to file for damage property tax exemptions.
City officials say it's too early to determine the full financial impact of damages and lost property value due to flooding.
