Kerr County Commissioners receive status update Monday on new Flood Warning System

Former Kerr County Commissioner Tom Moser is helping lead the local team heading the design and implementation effort of the new warning system.

He said the system will focus on prediction and projection.

"The prediction part very accurately will predict a flood well in advance of when it's going to occur. The warning device triggers automatically or can trigger automatically sirens, cell phones, etc, etc."

The design and development phase is expected to begin in early 2026 and last through June.

Gov. Greg Abbott recently signed a bill into law that allocates 50-million dollars for Texas counties to purchase sirens, rain gauges, and other flood equipment.
