Houston Astros donate $2.5 million to rebuild a youth ballpark damaged in the Central Texas floods

Astros owner Jim Crane made the announcement on Saturday. In a statement, he said that the funds will be used to build three new youth baseball/softball fields, two practice fields, batting cages—and all accompanying amenities— in Ingram, Texas, This community and other surrounding areas were devastated by the July 4 floods.

In the statement Crane added that the Astros are “committed to having it ready for the beginning of the season in the spring of 2026.”

The Astros Foundation, together with the Community Foundation of Texas Hill Country, Major League Baseball, the Texas Rangers, a number of other MLB teams, as well as Texas-based baseball programs and foundations have made a commitment to help maintain the fields once they are established and in operation.
