Kerrville pet owners warned to keep pets away from floodwaters

Kerrville Pets Alive said local pet owners should keep animals out of floodwaters from last month's devastating floods.

The organizations explained that many search and rescue dogs deployed during the incident experienced gastrointestinal issues form drinking or being exposed to contaminated waters.

Floodwaters can contain overflowing sewage, automotive fluids, and harmful bacteria.

Experts estimated it will take weeks before the water is clear of contaminants.
