FEMA offers advice on how to replace lost documents

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has tips for flood survivors whose important documents were lost or damaged.

Birth and death certificates and marriage and divorce documents can be ordered online on the state Department of Health & Human Services website.

Replacement driver licenses can be made by making appointments at a driver license office.

Replacement passports can be requested at state.gov.

Military records can be searched on the National Archives website. Search for "Request Military Service Records."

Replacement green cards can be requested at USCIS.gov. Request Form I-90.

Lost Medicare cards can be ordered online or in person with Social Security, or at MyMedicare.gov.

The tips include how to replace certificates, driver licenses, Social Security cards, Medicare cards, permanent residency cards, passports, federal tax returns, and military records.
